It appears UFC hall of famer and arguably the most popular fighter in UFC history Chuck The Iceman Liddell has been put on notice if he loses his showdown with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Dana White and Chuck are friends but Dana White expresses that business comes first. It appears if Liddell loses to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 97 April 17th in Montreal Canada he could find himself out of the UFC. It has been suggested before that the UFC are openly keen to reduce the fighter numbers and only want the best, Liddell being an ex champ and having explosive power in his hands needs to win and win well to keep him fighting in the trademark Octagon.
One rumour which wont go away is Jonathan Goulet vs. Dong Hyun Kim proposed for UFC 100, the majority of bouts have been confirmed, interesting fight if this does happen.
UFC 100 will be the first UFC and MMA event to stretch over two days, it was formally announced as UFC Fan Expo and will take place inside the Mandalay Bay Convention Center starting the 10th of July. It is said to be a meet and greet fighters from UFC and WEC and will include businesses. Could this be another sign the UFC and WEC are to fight under one brand in the future??
Kenny Florian appears to get his second title shot @ UFC 101. All the noise from blogs and fighters themselves seem to suggest a showdown in August. After the grease gate and GSP Vs Alves looking likely to be main event at UFC 100 it makes sense and would be ideal for both camps. BJ Penn will have enough time to train and then assess whether he will go up and face GSP again or try and challenge Thiago Alves for the title. Either way looks exciting news for UFC upcoming in the summer.
Nate Marquardt is featured in a good article in MMA Weekly he is looking for another shot at Middleweight champion Anderson The Spider Silva, he lost to Silva back in 2007 and is keen for a rematch but understands he has to wait his turn. He won a hard fought victory at his previous fight at UFC 95 against Wilson Gouveia. I would suggest another challenge before, maybe Dan Henderson after his fight against Michael Bisping.
