Dana White came out in defence of the referees, namely Ives Lavigne. The Brown V Sell fight looked finished ten seconds in and Ives Lavigne stepped in and then allowed it to carry on. I personally think he did the right thing by allowing the fight carry on, they are paid and have possibly the hardest calls to make, I think give them a break.
Patrick Cote the Canadian KO specialist looks to return to the Octagon after his knee troubles and would like to fight UFC 99 main card winner between Rich Franklin and Wanderlai Silva. Cote has not fought since his TKO lose to Anderson Silva in October 2008 @ UFC 90 in Chicago. He would make sense for him to fight a top ten contender, then top 5. Maybe he and Matt Hughes could fight, other rumours today suggest Matt Hughes could make the step up to middle weight and would like to fight Anderson Silva, hall of famer or not he would have to fight a big name before a title shot.
It has also been said Kenny Florian is going to wait until BJ Penn is ready for his title shot, even if it means waiting for GSP and Alves to fight to see if the GSP vs BJ Penn rubber match could happen. It appears Florian would not want to fight Diego Sanchez. Kenny has not fought since his win over Joe Steveson @ UFC 91.
Lastly it appears Rampage Rashad Evans main event at UFC 98 is not guaranteed and even the UFC website is waiting for clarification. It is not like Anderson Silva could step up within a month as he defends his middleweight title at UFC 97 against
Thales Leites.
Busy day in and around the UFC lets hope the UFC 98 card is sorted and Lesnar Mir 2 happens at UFC 100 – providing the GSP Alves fight is not moved.
