UFC 95 reactions and results

UFC 95
Main event
Lightweight – 155 lbs – Diego Sanchez vs Joe Stevenson – Diego Sanchez wins he ultimate fighter winners battle, Sanchez definitely had the more dynamic approach and his right upper cuts gave him the advantage from the start. Stevenson in first two rounds was one dimensioned and only through his right. Sanchez looked good for his first fight at 155lbs and could cause most problems. Sanchez did suggest he could fight in two weight classes but I think he should carry on his quest at lightweight.

Co main event
Lightweight – 155 lbs – Dan Hardy vs Rory Markham – Markham known for his knock out power was on the end of a great counter “picture perfect” left hook by Dan Hardy. Dan Hardy winning in front of his English crowd showed his best. Next step maybe a bigger fight in the States.

Middleweight – 185 lbs – Nate Marquardt vs Wilson Gouveia – third round TKO for Nate Marquardt, Marquardt did dominate the fight basically from the first exchange, Gouveia had Nate on the run a couple of time but cardio let him down mid way through the second.

Middleweight – 185 lbs – Demian Maia vs Chael Sonnen – Demian Maia demostrated his amazing jujitsu skills, trips Sonnen, takes him down, mounts, takes to triangle and submits. All his fights now finished by submission, will worry any middleweight

Welterweight - 170 lbs – Josh Koscheck vs Paulo Thiago – Possibly the biggest shock throughout the evening, Koscheck looked like he was due to finish the fight with his stand up and takes an upper cut and a left hook and a good stoppage by Mark Goddard.

Preliminary card
Lightweight - 155 lbs – Brian Cobb vs Terry Etim – Terry Etim another English fighter beat American fighter Brian Cobb by dominating and then taken apart by Etim’s striking and reach advantage, Joe Rogan compared to Anderson Silva and was brutual, maybe a bigger fight next time around for thr Liverpublian. Etim deadly leg kicks and round house head kick would have rocked anyone.
Heavyweight - 265 lbs – Junior dos Santos vs Stefan Struve – Another good win for Santos who ripped throuhg 6ft 11 Struve would couldnt reply to dos Sanos’ striking
Lightweight - 155 lbs – Per Eklund vs Evan Dunham – must see fight, banger with Dunham win.
Welterweight bout – 170 lbs – Troy Mandaloniz vs Paul Kelly – Paul Kelly wins over decision, not even BJ Penn could inspire Mandaloniz to come back to brutual body shots and elbow. Quinton Rampage definitely had the right effect on Paul Kelly.
